Case Study: Fuelling Rotherham United Community Trust's Impactful Communication Journey

Client: Rotherham United Community Trust (RUCT)

When Rotherham United Community Trust approached me, they were looking for a fresh approach to elevate their communication efforts. Their goal was to effectively share their community projects, initiatives, and aspirations with a wider audience. The challenge was clear: create a comprehensive communication strategy covering everything from press releases to social media, all while maintaining an authentic connection with their community.

Solution:

I jumped right into action, teaming up with Rotherham United Community Trust to take on this exciting challenge of boosting their communication game. I worked with them three days a week, complete with wearing the RUFC training wear! (Remember in PR - no two days are ever the same!)

Press Releases for Community Projects:

I crafted attention-grabbing press releases that showcased the heart and soul of the Trust's community projects. By weaving in the stories behind these initiatives, I managed to capture the local and regional media's attention, spreading the Trust's positive impact to a broader audience.

Social Media Management for all departments:

As the digital storyteller, I dived into managing social media content across all Trust departments. My aim was to ensure a consistent and engaging online presence that echoed the Trust's values, accomplishments, and ongoing efforts. This approach not only ramped up engagement but also firmly established the Trust as a community pillar.

Report Writing - Trustees Report and RUCT's Five-Year Strategy:

I put on my writing hat to craft the Trustees Report and an in-depth Five-Year Strategy Document. My mission was to break down complex concepts into clear, accessible language. The result? A report that allowed everyone—stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries—to understand the Trust's journey and its ambitious goals.

Photography and Videography:

Recognising the impact of visuals, I turned to photography and videography to capture the essence of the Trust's activities. These visuals didn't just document events; they provided a tangible window into the Trust's impactful work.

Copywriting:

From snappy web content to engaging PR, I created content that resonated with the Trust's voice and message. Each piece aimed to build a stronger bond with the intended audience.

Organising media calls for the 'Walk 4 Rio' campaign:

A standout project was the 'Walk 4 Rio' campaign in aid of little Tommy Spurr. I used my connections to set up media calls with local journalists, resulting in extensive coverage of the campaign's objectives and activities.

Results:

Through our dynamic collaboration, Rotherham United Community Trust saw a transformation in its communication strategy. Their initiatives gained more visibility and recognition, with press coverage, social media interactions, and stakeholder engagement all on the rise.


The Trustees Report and Five-Year Strategy Document provided a roadmap that fostered transparency and trust within the community.

I worked with RUCT to provide them with a full-service communications retainer and our partnership proves that effective communication isn't just a tool—it's a force for community growth and positive change.
